§ 1-4. Catchlines of chapters, articles, sections and divisions.

  • The catchlines of the chapters, articles and sections of this Code, printed in boldface type, and the catchlines of the divisions of this Code, printed in lightface type, are intended as mere catchwords to indicate the contents of the chapters, articles, divisions and sections, and shall not be deemed or taken to be titles of such chapters, articles, divisions and sections, nor as any part of the chapters, articles, divisions and sections, unless expressly so provided, nor shall they be so deemed when any such chapters, articles, divisions or sections, including the catchlines, are amended or reenacted. No provision of this Code shall be held invalid by reason of deficiency in any such catchline.
